What you agree to with Maison 1.0. On your own Mac it is free today. We may charge for it in the future; we will give notice before any charge, and nothing is ever charged without your agreeing.
Maison Initiative, PBC. Version 1.1, dated October 28, 2026.
1.1 Agreement. These Maison 1.0 Subscription Terms (the “Subscription Terms”) are an agreement between you and Maison Initiative, PBC, a Delaware public benefit corporation (the “Company”, “we”, “us”), about a Maison 1.0 plan. They include, by reference, the Maison Terms of Use, version 2.1 (the “Terms of Use”), which Maison presents before you first use it. The Subscription Terms and the Terms of Use together are the agreement. Where they differ about a Maison 1.0 plan, these Subscription Terms govern.
1.2 Accepting. You accept these Subscription Terms when you start a Maison 1.0 plan, and, for any plan you agree to pay for, by checking the box on your account page and completing payment. The Company keeps a record of your acceptance, its date, and the plan you chose.
1.3 Who may buy. You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. A plan is for one person, for your own use, and may not be resold or shared.
1.4 Free today. Maison 1.0 on your own Mac is free today (section 2). The parts of these terms about a price, payment, renewal and refunds (sections 3 and 4) apply only to a plan you have agreed to pay for. No plan is charged today.
1.5 Founding members. If you were invited to use a Maison before Maison 1.0 at no charge, that Maison continues as it is today, on the terms you accepted for it. Starting a Maison 1.0 plan does not change it, and any price for a Maison 1.0 plan is the same for founding members as for anyone.
2.1 Two ways to run it. Maison 1.0 is for one person and comes in two plans: on your own Mac, where you install Maison on a Mac you keep; and hosted for you, where the Company runs your Maison for you.
2.2 On your own Mac, Maison is free today. Self-hosted Maison, on your own Mac, is free today. We may charge for it in the future. If we do, we will give you notice before any charge, and nothing is ever charged without your agreeing to it.
2.3 Hosted for you: coming soon. The hosted plan is not open yet. It cannot be signed up for or bought today, and nothing is charged for it. Where these terms describe a hosted plan, they describe it as it will be once it opens.
2.4 By invitation. Maison 1.0 is sold by invitation for now. The Company decides who is invited and when, and may decline to offer a plan.
2.5 One plan at a time. An account holds one Maison 1.0 plan at a time.
3.1 A paid plan renews automatically every month until you cancel. If you agree to pay for a plan, each month you are charged the monthly price your account page showed when you agreed to it, plus any tax that applies, in advance, to the payment method you gave at checkout, on the same day of the month as your first payment (or the nearest day that month has). You can cancel at any time, online, on your account page at maisoniam.com/account. Canceling stops the next renewal; your plan continues to the end of the month you have already paid for, and that month is not refunded.
3.2 Payment. Payment is taken by Stripe, Inc. on its own checkout page. The Company does not receive or store your full card number. You authorize the Company, through Stripe, to charge your payment method each month until you cancel.
3.3 Tax. You are responsible for any sales, use or similar tax on your plan, other than tax on the Company’s income. Where the Company is required to collect a tax, it is added to your charge and shown on your receipt.
3.4 Price changes. The Company may change the price of a plan. It will email you at least 30 days before the change, and the new price applies from your first renewal after those 30 days. If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before that renewal. A plan that is free is never moved to a price this way: it is charged only once you have agreed to pay for it (section 2.2).
3.5 A payment that fails. If a charge fails, it may be tried again. While a payment is overdue the Company may suspend your plan, and if it stays unpaid the Company may end it. A plan ended this way is treated as canceled, and section 5 applies.
4.1 No partial refunds. Payments are not refunded for a part of a month, including the rest of a month after you cancel.
4.2 A payment taken twice. If you are charged twice for the same plan by mistake, for example by completing checkout twice, the second payment is refunded in full to the payment method it came from.
4.3 Nothing else. No other refunds or credits are given, except where the law requires them.
5.1 Canceling. You can cancel at any time, online, from your account page, which opens Stripe’s billing page for your plan. Your plan ends at the end of the month you have paid for.
5.2 Hosted: your Maison is closed and kept for 30 days. When a hosted plan ends, your hosted Maison is closed. What it holds is kept, locked and not in use, for 30 days. If you buy a hosted plan again within those 30 days, the Company will make reasonable efforts to reopen it with what it held. After 30 days what it held may be deleted. The Company does not undertake to keep it longer than 30 days, or to delete it by any particular date; copies may also remain for a time in backups and logs, as the Terms of Use describe.
5.3 On your own Mac: the license ends. When a plan on your own Mac ends, your license to use Maison 1.0 ends with it, and the Company may stop the software from running and stop sending updates. What Maison kept on your Mac stays on your Mac. The Company does not delete it.
5.4 Shared learning stays. Shared learning (section 9) is not tied to you, so it stays after your plan ends and after your account is deleted.
5.5 The Company may end a plan. The Company may suspend or end a plan as the Terms of Use allow, including for a breach of this agreement.
6.1 What the Company runs. On a hosted plan the Company runs a private workspace for you, on computers and storage provided by the companies named in 6.5, that you reach through the Maison app.
6.2 Security. The Company takes reasonable measures to protect your hosted Maison and keeps it separate from other customers’. No system is perfectly secure, and the Company does not guarantee that yours cannot be accessed, lost or damaged. Keeping your devices and sign-in codes safe is your responsibility.
6.3 Availability. The Company does not guarantee that your hosted Maison will be available at any particular time or without interruption, and offers no service level or credit for time it is unavailable. It may be paused for maintenance, updates or security.
6.4 Fair use. A hosted Maison has a fixed amount of computing, memory and storage, set by the Company. It is for one person’s own use. You may not use it to provide a service to others, to mine currency, or in a way that harms the service or other customers. The Company may limit, slow or suspend use that does.
6.5 Companies that hold a hosted Maison. In addition to the companies the Terms of Use name, which receive material only when you allow them on Maison’s AI sharing screen, a hosted Maison is held by:
7.1 License. While your plan is in effect, the Company grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to install and use Maison 1.0 on one Mac that you own or control, for one person, under the Terms of Use. The software remains the Company’s.
7.2 What your Mac needs. A Mac with an Apple M2 chip or later and at least 16 GB of memory, and a working internet connection. It is your responsibility to check this before you install it. The Mac, its power and its network are yours and your responsibility.
7.3 License key. Your account page gives you a license key, tied to your account and plan, for one installation. Do not share, sell or publish it. The Company may revoke a key that is shared, and may decline to issue another.
7.4 Updates. The Company may provide updates, which may install automatically, and you may need to install them to keep using Maison. The Company does not undertake to provide any particular update or feature.
8.1 Yours, under its own terms. Maison works by signing in with an account you hold with an AI company, such as Anthropic’s Claude or OpenAI’s ChatGPT. That account is between you and that company, under its own terms, usage limits and prices. Paying for it is separate from your Maison 1.0 plan, and is not included in it.
8.2 Not controlled by the Company. The Company does not control those services and is not responsible for their availability, limits, charges or conduct, or for what they do with what they receive. You are responsible for following their terms.
9.1 What it is. As Maison works, it writes down how it did a task: the technique, not the particulars. A shared skill library lets every Maison use techniques that have worked, so each one gets better.
9.2 What is shared, and how. On a hosted Maison, sharing is automatic. Each technique is checked by software before it is shared: street addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, keys, file paths and links are removed; words particular to you, and names the library does not recognize, are replaced with placeholders; and a technique is not shared if anything private remains, if it holds too many details, if it fails a safety check, or if too little is left once it is cleaned. No person reviews each one before it is shared. The check is automatic and the Company does not guarantee that it removes every detail. On your own Mac, what Maison shares is as the Privacy Policy describes.
9.3 Use. You grant the Company a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide and royalty-free license to use, change and share shared learning, including in the development of future models. Because it is not tied to you, it cannot be found and removed later.
10.1 Warranties and liability. The disclaimer of warranties and the limitation of liability in the Terms of Use apply to your plan. For a plan you pay for, the Company’s total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid the Company for Maison 1.0 in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred US dollars ($100).
10.2 Disputes and governing law. The governing law and dispute resolution section of the Terms of Use applies: the law of Colorado; raising a matter with the Company first and allowing thirty days; the state or federal courts in the City and County of Denver, Colorado; claims brought individually and not as a class; and a one-year limit for bringing a claim. Nothing in this agreement removes a right that consumer protection law gives you and does not allow to be waived.
11.1 Notice. The Company may change these Subscription Terms. A changed version is published on this page with a new version number and date. For a material change, the Company emails you at least 30 days before it takes effect.
11.2 Accepting a change. Where Maison or your account page can ask you to accept a materially changed version when you next sign in, it will. Otherwise, keeping your plan after the change takes effect, including its next renewal, is acceptance. If you do not agree, cancel before then.
